Kocbekov hut standed on the western edge of a big, completely horizontal alpine meadow, called Korošica, at 1808 metres of altitude above sea level. Just above the hut, the southern face of Ojstrica is rising. But due to its strategic point, Kocbekov hut served more than only to ascend to Ojstrica. It was a crossroad of many hikes, a home for climbers, who challenge the hard routes in the nearby Dedec in Vežica. Moreover, in winter and spring it also welcomed tour skiers.
The hut, inaugurated in 1882, had capacity for 80 people. Ufortunately, in October 2017 an accidental fire entirely destroyed the building, which already had the technologies proposed by SustainHuts only some time before.
