The Aragonese Mountaineering Federation (hereinafter FAM) is a private entity, non-profit, legal entity with its own assets, consisting of sports clubs, technicians and sportsmen. It is an entity of Public Interest. The aim goal of the FAM is the promotion and development of sports in the Aragonese mountain area. Mountain sports comprises sports as hiking and mountain crossings, canyoning, mountaineering, ski touring, snowshoeing, climbing and mountain races.

Moreover, FAM has related activities to mountain sports. Among them are the construction, management and maintenance of mountain huts. FAM is also part of the Spanish Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing (FEDME). Nowadays, FAM manages a total of 15 guarded huts and hostels and 3 non guarded small huts, in addition to taking up construction of a new mountain hut.

Founded in 1863 in Turin, by Q.Sella, G.Baracco, P.and G.di S.Robert. CAI is an independent national association that is responsible for mountaineering, the knowledge and study of mountains, specifically those in Italy, and the protection of the environment in the forefront in all of its events. The Association is made up of members and divided into local branches coordinated in regional groups and the beneficiary is one of them located in Torino. The central structure of the Club Alpino Italiano is a non-profit public organization, while all the subordinate Local Branches and regional and provincial groups are subject to private law. Hereafter some of the main actions in which CAI is involved:

• Organization and management of training courses.
• Mapping, building and maintaining trails, alpine structures and mountaineering sites.
• Construction, maintenance and management of mountain huts and shelters owned by the Club Alpino Italiano and the individual local branches. As of today, there are 761 mountain huts for a total of 21 681 beds, fixing the criteria and means. Section of Torino is managing 30 of those sites.
• Stations suitable for initiatives to patrol and prevent injury for mountaineers, hikers or cavers and to aid the injured, rescue those in danger and recover accident victims through the National Alpine and Caving Rescue Squad.
• Scientific and educational activities to increase the knowledge of all aspects of the mountain environment as well as any initiative suitable for the protection and improvement of the domestic mountain environment.
• Ethnic-cultural training, studies dedicated to the diffusion and knowledge of the mountain environment, mountain photography and cinematography, and the conservation of the alpine culture.
• Organization and management of professional training courses for caving guides as well as professional training courses for experts and observers for the Italian Avalanche Service.

Slovenian Mountaineering Society known today as Alpine Association of Slovenia was formed in 1893. At first, the SPD’s main task was the defense against foreign influence in Slovenian mountains and expansion of Slovenian mountaineering efforts. It is among the most numerous non-governmental organizations in Slovenia, and the most numerous sports organization. The President of the Alpine Association of Slovenia is Mr. Bojan Rotovnik. It includes a total of 55,159 (in 2013) spanning all age groups. The number of youth mountaineers, ranging from pre-school children to 26-year-olds, amounts almost to 17,000. From March 2014 PZS has 280 Alpine clubs. In Slovenia there are 176 mountain huts, shelters and bivouacs and 1661 mountain trails, which are marked, in the length of 9,616 km. A member of the alpine association can take part in a variety of mountaineering activities, use discounts on accommodation in mountain lodges in Slovenia and Europe, take out different types of insurance, and enjoy benefits in the purchase of mountaineering equipment, etc. Alpine clubs organized within the Alpine Association of Slovenia (Planinska zveza Slovenije) coordinate their activities within 12 regional committees of local alpine clubs operating in the areas of Podravje, Zasavje, Koroška, Pomurje, Gorenjska, Posočje, Kamnik-Bistrica area, Savinjska, Ljubljana, Notranjska, Primorsko-Notranjska, Dolenjska and Bela Krajina.

Development Centre for Hydrogen Technologies (DCHT) was founded by five companies and two research institutes in a bid to boost research, development and applicable projects in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells in Slovenia. The main goal of the Centre is to pool industry and institute-based knowledge capacities. Other goals include providing conditions for the transfer of expertise, stimulating lasting cooperation between research and the business sector, influencing state development politics, organizing expert meetings on hydrogen technologies and increasing competitiveness of Slovenian companies and institutes in the long-term.

Centre was founded by the largest Slovene fuel distributor Company Petrol d.d., a global supplier of advanced development solutions based on electric motors and their upgrades Domel d.o.o., a company in the field of energy management, automation and manufacturing informatics Inea d.o.o., a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases TPJ d.o.o., a company that operates in the field of fuel cells with the proton conductive membranes Mebius d.o.o., prime Slovene institution Jozef Stefan Institute and National Institute of Chemistry with twenty years of tradition in the field of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies. Hydrogen is the fuel of the future and one of the key priorities of the European Union. Its use will decrease the dependence from fossil fuels and significantly reduce greenhouse and other environmentally hazardous emissions.

Laboratory for Heat and Power (LTE) at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.fs.uni-lj.si/eng/) is a part of the University of Ljubljana. The university, with its 56,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students participating in more than 130 undergraduate and 110 post-graduate programmes, ranks among the biggest in the world. The Laboratory for Heat and Power itself is a leading institution for theoretical and applied thermodynamic analyses of large-scale energy conversion facilities. Members of the laboratory cooperate with all Slovene thermal power plants, energy-intensive branches of industry, research institutes and government institutions. The main fields of research are strongly connected with problems inspired by the contemporary energy conversion systems, such as entropy generation identification, numerical modelling and analyses and optimization of complex energy systems, life cycle assessment studies and environmental impacts identification and reductions, identification of possible energy reduction in recycling and reusing in manufacturing technologies, identification of fluid- and thermodynamic characteristics of complex flows by means of CFD calculations and development of thermo-economic methods for energy systems.

University of Ljubljana was participating in over 420 EU and international projects in 2013, while Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was involved in 51 projects in the same year. Laboratory of Heat and Power was so far a partner in one EU project and one centre of excellence where connection with Slovene and international partners were established.

The French Federation of Alpine and Mountain Clubs (FFCAM) is a federation of clubs that promotes the practice of autonomous and responsible mountaineering for the general public. It offers multiple training programs and courses to help people understand and discover the mountains. The federation also manages more than 120 mountain huts, most of which are in the Alps and the Pyrenees. It is also involved in a comprehensive renovation plan that began in 2017 to renovate 20% of the huts by 2026, focusing the reforms on green building standards and providing sustainable examples for future reforms. The FFCAM manages and operates the shelters and is the manager of all renovation work.
